Fencing

Born on September 23, 2003 in Karnal, Haryana, Taniksha first discovered fencing during a school summer camp in 2015 at DAV Police Public School. Previously active in athletics, her curiosity was sparked by the sport’s blend of speed, skill, and drama. Within a year she made great progress emerging as a national under‑14 gold medalist.

She joined the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and trained extensively in Paris—most notably at the prestigious Daniel Levavasseur Épée Academy—spending anywhere from six to eight months annually abroad, training alongside world‑class fencers.

Some of her National & International Achievements include –

Multiple-time national champion in both junior and senior categories, consistently ranked #1 in India

Runner-up at the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers

Silver medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Junior Championships (London) and the Junior Asian Championships (Uzbekistan)

Reached the quarterfinals in women’s épée at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou—India’s best-ever result in fencing at the event.

She is now targeting qualification for the Asian Championships, World Cups, Grand Prix events, and ultimately the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics gold dream.

Taniksha views fencing not only as a competitive sport, but as empowerment through discipline, mental resilience, and independence—qualities she found especially transformative given the cultural constraints she faced growing up in Haryana. Her journey symbolizes breaking societal stereotypes and inspiring future generations of Indian women athletes.

Taniksha Khatri’s rise in Indian fencing is a story of grit, sacrifice, and inspiration. With her blend of cutting-edge European training, and steely ambition, she’s becoming one of India’s most exciting young athletes on the path to Olympic glory.
