An Arjuna Awardee, Virdhawal Khade is India’s most accomplished swimmers, also our youngest swimmer to qualify for the Olympic Games (2008).
Right from the young age of 14, he has been breaking national records, winning Gold medals at various competitions.
Also, he is the first Indian to break into the top 50 FINA World Rankings.
He has been an undisputed national champion in the 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly event.
Some of his biggest achievements include winning 3 Gold and Silver medals at the 2008 Youth Commonwealth Games, a Bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games. His Asian Games medal ended a 24 year medal drought for India at the Asian Games.
He has most recently won a Gold (50m Freestyle) and a Silver (50m Butterfly) medal at the Singapore National Age Group Championship and a Gold (100m Freestyle) and Silver (50m Freestyle) at the Singapore Nationals in June 2018.
Apart from being India’s fastest swimmer, Vir has been consistent at winning medals at domestic as well as international events.
